The UCE Board
Ulverston Community Enterprises (UCE) is a not-for-profit organisation (charitable status applied for).
UCE was set up in 2014, and is steered by a Board whose membership was recruited by open advertisement late in that year.
Board members are drawn from all corners of life and age groups, with experience in the arts, retail, community development, education, finance and research. The Board members all live locally and are all volunteers, see Trustees page for a current list.
The UCE Business Plan
We have produced a draft Business Plan, on the basis of which we are now negotiating with South Lakeland District Council to take on the assets of the Coronation Hall and town markets. UCE Business Plan
We are thinking about how a redesign of both the Coronation Hall and the Market Hall might produce a more creative and inclusive space for the town.
We of course will want to keep the magnificent Concert Hall space but there are other needs in the town – for exhibitions, workshops, meetings, projects, internet access… and much more besides. We want to take them all into account.
We need to think about how the Coro and the Markets can generate more money for the town. Any profit which Ulverston Community Enterprise makes can be ploughed back into the town….. so we need to think about getting our assets working ‘for the common good’.
