Ulverston’s vital assets

We believe Ulverston should have control over the assets which make our town and local economy tick.

Two of those assets – The Coronation Hall and the markets  – are clearly vital for the town and have been under the ownership and management of South Lakeland District Council.  SLDC and Ulverston Community Enterprises have worked together to negotiate a transfer of these assets back to Ulverston.  The initial part of this transfer took place on 1st August 2016, when management of The Coronation Hall and the town’s indoor and outdoor markets was passed over to Ulverston Community Enterprises.

Our aim is that these crucial town assets may be managed locally more creatively and sustainably for the benefit of the whole town.

Our key goals

  • Increase footfall in the town
  • Develop the Coronation Hall to become a thriving community and cultural hub
  • Re-vitalise the indoor and outdoor markets
